Once Upon A Time...
Welcome to my on again/off again blog. Blah, blah...Insert more intero stuff here. Haha. Well, yeah, basic intro; I'll rant here. That's pretty much it. Just my opinion. So please don't take anything here personally (or maybe you should?). I don't want to get e-mails from people comlaining about the stuff I write here, so yeah. You could say why put up a blog then? Where everyone could see it? It's not like a diary to me, really. It's where I can rant and put my opinion out there for people to see, even if it's only a few people who see it, and only one who cares. Haha, people may not even read it all, but I don't care; I feel better having it here. So, uh, yeah. After that mini-rant (sure, let's call it that), enjoy the rest?
Rants
Christmas <3
December 23, 2006
Mood: Christmasy (though the current avatar contradicts this..)
Listening to: Lacrymosa - Evanescence (The Open Door)
Current obssession(s): Christmas spirit~, Scrubs (still), peppermint ice cream, my new laptop, Photoshop CS2, staying warm.
Wee...Now I forgot what I was going to say as a 'hello', but I guess 'wee' works...Haha. Well, I could start with a Merry Christmas, except I'll be ending with that, too, so it'd be redundant...Oh well.
So, I'll start with a little story...My computer, only three years old...A little slow sometimes, but I still love(d) it. Tuesday night, though, all of a sudden...Poof. It died on me. I pressed the little button and nothing happened. It just sat there, staring at me with it's flat, life-less shine. As would be the case with most people when they need it for a project the next day . . . I spazzed. Majorly. Yeah. Well, next day, my dad calls me from work..."Bad news is, your computer's dead; good news, you're getting a laptop for Christmas so me and a guy from work are gonna just transfer over your hard drive". Haha, I was happy then. Guess what kind of laptop it is...Just guess...Of course you won't know if you're right (unless you've read my Anime Rain update) until I've told you that it's a Dell Inspiron E1705. Pretty sweet, huh? And guess what got to get bunched in with the other hard drive info...The whole Adobe CS2 Suite...How could all that not cheer someone up after their last one dying? So, yeah, there's my plug for the happy rant...And, of course, Christmas is coming up, but there's not much I could say about that yet since it hasn't happened.
Now for the pissy rant...But first, some 'quotes' for your knowledge...
"xD Lawls. $190 for Photoshop 7? ....Psh. Photoshop CS2 for free"
">< You should work on the contrast on the layout, starfire.. your other layouts were better."
And my favorite...
"die dirty b****!!!!!! XDDDDDDDDDDD" (yes, I star-ed it out to keep people at peace...)
So, these were all comments found on the tag board at Anime Rain (they're deleted now, though; I'm sure all of you went to go check, huh?). I'll go ahead and rant on the last one first...Honestly it cracks me up. I mean, I'm sure people don't realize these are actually read. Who would think that? Rofl. I'd love to see this person run up to someone at their school and say that, see if there's anyone who hears that. So, in short; why do people post that kind of stuff? Now that I'm done with that one, I'll take the first two all in one serving (since they were posted by the same person). Just to make it clear, I'm not ranting against helpful critisism. I had plenty of comments saying the contrast of the text was a little too light in such forms as..."Great layout! I love the colors and such, though the font is a little hard to read" or "The words are pretty light, but everything else is just great!" I'm sure many people have heard of sandwhiching your critisism with compliments. Yes, that generally applies to a workplace, but doesn't it make sense to use that same policy in any other situation? "The contrast sucks...Your other ones were better" (paraphrasing, of course) just doesn't get processed quite right and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so. Could have been re-phrased as..."I think I liked some of your past layouts better. This one is still really pretty, though. Maybe a little too light for my liking, but still pretty" Doesn't that seem nicer? And it still gets the same little 'advice' out there. Now the first quote there just seems rude..."Haha, you spent your hard earned money on a not-even-year-old piece of crap! I got the newest version for free, so there!" (again, paraphrasing). Sorry to the poster of this comment (note, I did leave names out) but the way I just paraphrased it is how I read it. I mean, do you think I really care that you got a newer version of Photoshop? Or do I need to pull a quote from the pervious update that it was a comment to..."Of course, you Photoshop pros with thousands of dollars just lying around wonder why I'm getting such an outdated version (the outdated comment there was sarcasm, by the way)." I didn't think I'd be right in my assumption that people would actually have that opinion. Is it just me, or is that really sad? Do people need the latest and greatest version of something, and can't be content otherwise? I mean, I was totally content with just having Photoshop 7 and such, but given a polite offer like that from my dad's friend, I went ahead and got the newer one. This comment...I can't even think of a good way to re-phrase it; it's just a rude, stuck up thing to say...Maybe something like..."190$? That's a lot to save up. I was lucky enough to get CS2 for free." That could work... But it still seems like a totally pointless comment. Oh well...Some people just need to learn on there own...
So, I was gonna talk about something else, but then I forgot, so I'll just blab about what I'll be doing during the breaks I have this year. Starting off, I'll be on a cruise to Mexico during the last week of winter break...Cool thing; I'll be on a cruise ship on New Year's Eve. Then during spring break I'll be in New York for the first time on a choir trip...Speaking of choir, I'll get around to one day adding up a picture or two of the choir dress I have this year...And eventually the dress I had for winter formal...Back to vacationing, haha...Well, finally, during summer, I'll be going to Europe for a couple weeks for my history class...I've got a lot going on this year. It's pretty spiffy.
My foot is uberly asleep now...Well, I still can't remember what I was going to talk about before, so I'll just be done now. I got the main rants out (well, there are a couple of others floating around in my head up there, but they need to be fine tuned before they can be written up or else...just....yeah, haha). So, again Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
